nbc's katy tur is with us. it was a sign of hope for so many people yesterday when the national guard arrived, helping them out. they continue to help, but what's going on with the supply situation? >> reporter: they definitely need more supplies. they're not going to have power for seven to ten days probably there in hoboken. there are a lot of people who will be staying in their homes during that time. so they need food and water. they're pleading for generators or batteries. of course, generators are extraordinarily hard to come by now. even if you have one, the gas lines are so long that it's hard to fill them up with gas. so they're still dealing with a lot over there in hoboken. it does look a lot different today than it did yesterday. we had water in most areas or a number of areas up to my shin yesterday. today most of the streets are completely clear. what's left now, though, is just a nasty sludge mix of sewage and mud and water and heating oil. they now need to clean that off the streets because that
